I am trying to book a stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Ljubljana through both the Hilton app and website, but whenever I select my Hilton Amex card as the payment method, I receive a message saying that this card type is not accepted at the property.
I know American Express is not as widely accepted in Europe, but I assumed that Hilton-branded hotels would generally accept Hilton-issued Amex cards. I was hoping to use my Hilton Surpass card so I could take advantage of the quarterly credit tied to the card.
Has anyone run into this situation before? Is there a workaround that would still allow me to use my Hilton Amex for this booking, or am I out of luck if the property does not accept American Express?
The message I receive states that the property accepts China UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa, but not American Express.
