I saw a report stating that the Hyatt Regency property in Kyoto (Higashiyama area) will close on May 9, 2027.
The building is considered too old, and instead of renovating it, the owner (ORIX) has decided that demolition and rebuilding a new hotel on the same site is more financially viable.
There is currently no information on what brand the replacement hotel will be or when the new property will reopen.
