I’ve noticed that Hyatt has updated award pricing, and it is now being reflected even on existing reservations.
When I check my current bookings, the points required are showing the new adjusted rates instead of the original redemption amounts. For example, several of my Park Hyatt stays have increased significantly:
Park Hyatt Kyoto: originally 180k total (45k per night), now showing 300k total (75k per night), a 66.7% increase
Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme: originally 240k, now 270k, a 12.5% increase
Park Hyatt Seoul: originally 125k, now 150k, a 20% increase
Park Hyatt Tokyo: originally 170k, now 200k, a 17.6% increase
Miraval Berkshires actually decreased slightly from 72k to 70k per night
From what I understand, canceling a reservation still returns the original number of points used at booking, not the updated pricing.
The part I am still unsure about is what happens if you modify an existing reservation. Does changing dates reprice at current award rates, or does it keep the original booking rate structure?
Has anyone tested this in practice?
