Hurricane Erin Grows as Dangerous Seas Threaten US East Coast

Honestly, Hurricane Erin is throwing a serious wrench into our East Coast family beach trip. We had plans to spend the week around the Outer Banks but with evacuation orders for Hatteras and Ocracoke and warnings about dangerous surf, we’re seriously rethinking everything. Even though Erin isn’t expected to make landfall, the storm surge and rip current risks are no joke, especially with kids in the mix.

We’re now looking at either pushing the trip or shifting inland, but it’s tough when the whole idea was to spend time by the ocean. Anyone else had vacation plans disrupted by hurricane season before? Did you reroute, cancel, or just hope for the best?
