Heading to Madeira at the end of February and everything’s booked except the car. I checked Booking.com today and every rental wants full payment now plus a massive deposit. One company wanted a $3150 CAD hold for a $600 two-week rental.
Does that mean they’ll actually charge the deposit now, or is it just a hold when I pick up the car? The listing says insurance is fully included, so I don’t get what the big deposit is for.
