HR Tahoe still a solid Cat 5 for MLK weekend

Just got back from another 3-night MLK stay at Hyatt Regency Tahoe. Still a Cat 5 and honestly still worth the 23k peak points. Cash rates were around $500 for a basic room and I’d book on points again without hesitation. I’d call it a 9/10 overall.

Biggest change is the beach area. It’s fully blocked off now while they build the new cottages, which sounds like it’ll go on until summer 2027. You can still use the public beach next door, just not as convenient.

Service was great again. Our suite wasn’t ready right at 4pm and the GM actually reached out personally and dropped 10k points into our account. Totally unexpected and appreciated.

They now have a ski concierge which was a nice touch. Took the skis from our car, stored them overnight, and loaded them onto the shuttle in the morning. Super easy.

More activities too. We tried archery and the kids loved it so much we went back a second time.

Food-wise, Cutthroats now does a breakfast buffet similar to Osteria. No wait on a sold-out weekend, which was nice, but Osteria’s à la carte menu is still way better. Dinner at both spots was solid.

Only real downgrade: the arcade is now paid and the games aren’t great.
