I’m a budget traveller in Europe and usually fly with airlines like Ryanair. However, I recently booked a Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight for a specific date because it turned out to be cheaper, and I went with the basic Light fare.
After booking, I realized SAS has a smaller personal item allowance than Ryanair. My bag fits Ryanair’s 40 x 30 x 20 cm underseat limit without any issues, but SAS allows only 40 x 30 x 15 cm for the small underseat bag.
My flight is from Luxembourg to Copenhagen in about a week, and I’m worried my bag might be slightly too large for their limit. I’ve never had Ryanair actually measure it, but I’m not sure how strict SAS is with checks.
Has anyone flown SAS on the Light fare recently? Do they actually enforce the size limits at the gate, or is it more flexible in practice?
Edit: It is the Light fare with 1 small underseat bag (40 x 30 x 15 cm).
