Since LaGuardia Airport is slot-controlled, I’m curious how many slots Spirit Airlines actually holds there.
With Terminal A currently unused and the Port Authority planning renovations while keeping the historic structure intact, I’m wondering what future airline activity might look like at LGA.
Could carriers like Southwest or Frontier realistically expand there? And is there any chance we could see airlines like Allegiant, Avelo, Breeze, Flair, or WestJet enter the market, possibly adding new underserved routes such as Louisville, Providence, Quebec City, Ottawa, or Winnipeg?
It seems like Southwest might focus on stronger service to cities like Baltimore, Boston, Tampa, Atlanta, and potentially year-round Orlando service, while Frontier could target destinations like Chicago, Cincinnati, Tampa, and possibly expand San Juan service.
Given how the New York market is currently dominated by the major legacy airlines and JetBlue, I’m wondering if there’s actually room for more low-cost carrier growth at LGA or if slot limitations make that unrealistic.
