I noticed that Marriott property codes usually follow a pattern: first three letters are an airport code, then two letters for the brand. Like INDJW for the JW Marriott Indianapolis.
But I came across a suburban Boston area property tagged with MHT (Manchester, NH) instead of BOS, even though Logan is closer.
Does anyone know how Marriott decides which airport a hotel gets associated with? Is it distance, market coverage, internal regions, or something else entirely?
No practical purpose here, just genuinely curious.
