We were flying MEX to Seattle and got bumped 24 hours because the runway was too hot and they had to drop weight.
We had a lap infant, booked months ago, tried to check in online right at 20 hours but kept getting errors and ended up checking in at the airport 3 hours before departure.
I’m genuinely curious how the decision gets made. Is it check in time? Fare type? No status? Pure randomness?
Getting stuck an extra day with a baby, no fridge, washing bottles in a hotel sink was… not ideal. The vouchers helped, but still a rough situation.
Would love to understand how that call gets made behind the scenes.
