While dining at a restaurant, I noticed a group of international travelers paying for their meal by scanning a QR code with their phones. What surprised me even more was that the restaurant staff seemed impressed and curious about how they were doing it. According to them, QR code payments in Vietnam are typically tied to local bank accounts, making them primarily accessible to residents.
The staff were so intrigued by the payment method that they even took a photo of the payment screen to learn more about it.
I'm curious whether anyone knows what app, digital wallet, or payment service these travelers might have been using. Has anyone found a way to make QR code payments in Vietnam without having a local Vietnamese bank account?
