I’m not an IHG diehard but I’ve stayed at a few Hotel Monacos over the years and they all kind of felt the same to me. Gaudy, dated, a little rough around the edges.
My most recent stay really sealed it. Lobby and room both felt tired and dusty. The main elevators were “being serviced” so everyone had to use one service elevator through this weird back route. Found out later the main elevators have apparently been out for almost a year.
I get that the brand leans quirky, but quirky shouldn’t mean broken basics. A free wine hour and an old yoga mat in the closet doesn’t make up for that.
Have I just had bad luck with locations? Is there a standout Monaco that actually feels polished? Or is this just kind of the brand vibe now?
