Hotel gave my bag to a stranger, now wants me to pay shipping

Stayed at a La Quinta near Houston Bush (IAH South). Left my luggage with the front desk for storage before a long flight home. They handed it to another guest by mistake, then called after I’d cleared TSA saying they found it and wanted me to come back to get it. Obviously couldn’t leave security or miss my flight. Now they’re asking me to pay to ship it overseas. I’m refusing since it was 100% their error. Anyone dealt with something like this from abroad?
