Holiday Inn Santiago Airport canceled my booking at the desk. Felt shady.

Had a really odd experience at the Holiday Inn at Santiago Airport. Booked two rooms for three people through Booking.com. When we arrived, the front desk questioned the rate, saying their system showed a higher price than what Booking.com confirmed.

While I was literally standing there talking to them, my Booking.com reservation suddenly got canceled. Email said “credit card invalid,” which was funny because I was holding the same card and using it just fine. They then told me the booking was canceled, the hotel was fully booked, and they could only give us one room at a higher rate.

We ended up taking the one room and paying with the same supposedly “invalid” card. Not the end of the world since it was just one night and we could share, but the whole thing felt really off.

I’ve got another stay booked there in about four weeks and now I’m seriously reconsidering. Has anyone else had something like this happen there, or is this kind of behavior normal for that hotel?
