Curious if anyone else has run into this. I’m a Hertz Gold member and rent a lot. Returned a car yesterday at the Escondido location after filling up less than half a mile away. Fuel gauge showed full, all bars.
Agent tells me their system says the car came back at 93 percent fuel. Apparently there’s some new fuel monitor that tracks more than just the gauge. It went out as “full” but came back at 93 percent, so they charged me an extra $11.72.
I followed the agreement exactly like I always do. Tank was full by every visible measure. Being told it’s not full because of some internal system feels shady.
What is a customer supposed to do in this situation? Anyone else had this happen or know how to fight it?
