Rented from Hertz and drove from Pittsburgh to DC. Light rain, winter roads, some salt. Pretty normal conditions. Returned the car with some dirt on the exterior, nothing crazy.
Later I see an $85 exterior cleaning fee on my bill. That feels wild to me. This wasn’t mudding or anything beyond regular road grime. I’ve never once had to run a rental through a car wash before returning it.
Has anyone successfully gotten a fee like this removed? Trying to understand how this is considered more than normal wear.
