Just a warning for anyone traveling solo or booking hostels. I’m heading to Amsterdam and got a pretty convincing email saying I needed to make a payment to secure my hostel spot, even though I’d already paid in full.
For a second it had me second guessing myself like wait, did I miss something? What really raised a red flag was a line saying this extra payment applies to all international travelers.
Instead of clicking anything, I forwarded it to the hostel directly. They confirmed it was fake and said there’s an ongoing issue with scam emails and messages asking for additional payments.
Not sure if this is specific to Amsterdam or more widespread, but definitely double check before paying anything again. Especially if you’re newer to travel like me.
