Sharing this in case it helps someone else. I had about $600 in Hawaiian flight credit and their policy is brutal. You have to use the full amount in one booking, and you have to call in to use it.
I tried multiple times over the last 10 months. Every time it meant long holds, then another 20–50 minutes while the agent tried to locate and validate the credit and price the flight. To make it worse, all three times the fare went up mid call, once almost doubling, and they said there was nothing they could do.
Last attempt, I finally told the agent how frustrating it was and that I was about to lose the credit. They talked to a supervisor and noted the credit so I could book online myself and then call back to get the credit refunded after the fact.
Shockingly, it worked. I booked online when the price dropped back down, called in, and the refund was processed quickly and smoothly.
If you’re stuck with Hawaiian flight credits and hitting the same wall, ask if they can note the credit and let you book online first. It’s the only thing that worked for me.
