I’ve been tracking flights for a quick weekend trip from Las Vegas to Reno over the past few months, and historically the roundtrip fares were usually around $100 if booked a week or two ahead.
Today I finally decided to book, and suddenly I can’t find anything under about $260, even searching dates all the way into September. I’m also noticing similar price jumps on routes like LAX that are normally among Frontier’s cheaper short-haul options.
I’m curious if other people are seeing the same thing lately with Frontier pricing on routes that used to be very affordable.
Do you think this is mainly because of:
Higher fuel costs
Reduced competition after Spirit’s collapse/problems
Seasonal demand
Frontier changing its pricing strategy overall
It definitely feels like some formerly budget-friendly routes are no longer particularly cheap.
