I was recently on a redeye flight with Singapore Airlines from Rome to Singapore in business class. During the overnight portion of the flight, when cabin lights were off and most passengers were trying to sleep, a toddler nearby was speaking loudly for an extended period.
The cabin crew intervened multiple times, but the situation did not improve. At one point, another passenger addressed the parents directly, but the response was dismissive, suggesting others should use earphones instead. Some passengers were eventually reseated, though the disruption remained noticeable.
I am trying to understand what the general expectation is in situations like this, especially on a redeye flight in a premium cabin. Should parents be expected to actively manage noise levels once the cabin is in rest mode, or is it more realistic for other passengers to rely on headphones or earplugs? I am also curious what actions crew can reasonably take in such cases.
