Witnessed an all time meltdown at DCA last night on a JetBlue flight to FLL. Guy shows up late to the gate and they tell him he has to gate check his carry on.
He immediately starts yelling, “This is a $3,000 Rimowa carry on! I won’t let you check it!” Gate agent calmly explains there’s no more overhead space and it’ll still go in cargo.
His response? “I’ll buy first class on the next flight just so I don’t have to check it!” Which… turned out to be three hours later.
The best part was watching him storm past and seeing the suitcase already dented and scratched to hell. Like my guy, the damage has already been done.
Honestly, shoutout to the gate agents. They handled it with total professionalism while this dude was basically announcing his net worth to the terminal.
