Stayed at a guesthouse in Italy for our honeymoon earlier this year and it turned into a pretty frustrating experience.
We had booked 15 days but the place kept shutting off the hot water. On the last day they actually turned the water off completely with no warning, so we couldn’t shower, flush the toilet, or really use anything. Staff weren’t helpful at all when we tried to sort it out.
We ended up leaving 5 days early and asked for a refund for the unused nights, which they refused.
After that we left a one star Google review explaining the situation. Nothing extreme, just that there was no hot water (and even mentioned the mattress was comfortable). Now the property is threatening to sue over “multiple terrible reviews,” even though it was just one.
Reported the threats to Booking and they said not to worry and are working on the refund. Interestingly the property has now disappeared from booking platforms, so it seems like something is going on behind the scenes.
