Just saw that Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been named the No. 1 City on the Rise by LinkedIn, and it’s not hard to see why. The city’s growing tech, insurance, and healthcare industries are pulling in young professionals, and its downtown feels lively without being overwhelming. The average one-bedroom rent is around $1,250, which is way more manageable compared to big coastal cities. Plus, being close to Lake Michigan is a bonus for weekend getaways.
I’ve visited Grand Rapids a couple of times and loved the mix of breweries, art, and outdoor spaces. It has that small-city friendliness with big-city opportunities.
I’m curious if anyone here has moved to a city on the rise for work. Did it live up to the hype, or was the job market the only perk?
