Government shutdown ends; normal operations resume over next few days

Delta Air Lines announced that following the passage of legislation ending the extended U.S. federal government shutdown, its operations will gradually return to normal over the next few days. The airline praised air traffic control personnel and security staff who worked during the shutdown, acknowledged earlier disruptions—such as hundreds of cancellations stemming from staffing shortages combined with seasonal weather—and reiterated that safety remains its top priority. Delta noted that all planned cancellations directed by the Federal Aviation Administration should be complete by mid-November, and that the bulk of its schedule, including long-haul international services, is expected to operate as scheduled. During this period, Delta is offering additional flexibility for impacted customers—allowing changes, cancellations or full refunds even for Basic fares—to help mitigate travel disruption.
