Had a strange one on my EWR–ORD flight today. Gate agent said they were “checking all carry-ons” without even looking, tagged mine even though it had my CPAP and medical stuff inside. Tried to explain, no luck.
At the door, FA said if it’s tagged it has to go below… so I just took the tag off and carried it on. There was tons of overhead space. Gate agent even came down the aisle later asking if I tore it off. I said yep, there was room.
Whole thing just felt weirdly power-trippy for no reason.
