Just got demoted to Gold after six straight years of being 1K and wow… the culture shock is real.
Boarding out of Newark to Denver and instead of loitering around the counter with the other 50 1Ks pretending we’re important, I had to stand there like a normal person in Group 1. Group 1. Like a peasant.
Honestly kind of sickening. I didn’t know how much of my identity was wrapped up in awkwardly hovering near the gate until it was gone.
RIP 1K era. I’ll be over here slumming it with the rest of Group 1.
