Getting kicked out over missing fruit feels extreme

Honestly, this feels like a huge overreaction by the hotel. You noticed food going missing twice, called the front desk in a calm way, asked if housekeeping might have touched it, accepted the explanation, and dropped it. That’s not accusing anyone, that’s just… asking a reasonable question.

Turning that into “you feel unsafe so you must check out” sounds like the hotel covering themselves or not wanting any hint of internal issues. Saying housekeeping was “offended” is wild. If anything, extended stay guests should be able to flag odd things without being punished for it.

Could you have phrased it differently? Maybe by framing it as “just checking if housekeeping sometimes moves food” instead of “something was taken”, but even then, the outcome feels disproportionate.

This doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong. It sounds like a Motel 6 that didn’t want to deal with even minor complaints and chose the nuclear option.
