In Michigan. We were hit in a roundabout on Dec 23 and the other driver was ticketed, clearly not our fault. Filed a claim with GEICO and now they’re saying they won’t cover it because our two kids weren’t listed as household members on the policy.
The kids are 3 months and 1.5 years old. Not drivers. No one was injured. They’re saying it affects personal injury protection, but there were no injuries, so I don’t get how that justifies denying the whole claim. The damage is easily $10k on a brand new van.
I’ve since added the kids to the policy and it raised our premium less than $10 for six months, so this wasn’t some attempt to save money. It was a mistake.
Can they really do this, or are they just hoping we give up?
