Had a frustrating experience at DTW today.
Arrived at the airport 2.5 hours early. Cleared security, sat near the gate for over an hour. Walked up 30 minutes before departure and the gate was already closed. No staff there either. A few other passengers were in the same situation.
Delta’s policy and the gate screens say 15 minute cutoff, so I thought I was completely fine. Ended up missing the flight and an important meeting in NYC.
Agent showed up about 15 minutes later. No real explanation.
Later heard the flight may have been oversold.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is the 15 minute cutoff not actually the real cutoff?
