I recently booked tickets for a birthday trip from Denver to Anchorage using a companion pass with Alaska Airlines, specifically because we chose a direct flight option.
We just received a schedule change notification, and it turns out both of our nonstop flights have been canceled. This is very frustrating since the direct route was the main reason we booked this itinerary, and we’ve already arranged accommodation and transport.
The new itinerary is much worse, including an extremely late departure and a short 50-minute layover in Portland.
I’m now wondering how likely it is that Alaska Airlines will reintroduce a nonstop option, or whether it’s better to cancel and rebook with another carrier like United Airlines instead.
