Been planning a 100 day trip around Europe with a friend for about two years. Flights, train pass, World Cup tickets, and most of the planning were already done.
Less than two weeks before departure, the friend suddenly said he doesn’t want to go anymore. Reasons included wanting to save the money for the future, worries about something like World War 3 breaking out, and not wanting to be away from his girlfriend for three months.
The problem is the trip was planned for two people and going solo would now cost more than originally planned, even close to the cost of paying for both tickets. Canceling the trip entirely would be pretty devastating after saving for years.
Now trying to figure out if there’s any way to convince him to still go, or if there are other options to salvage the trip.
