Did the free hotel option on a long layover and honestly wouldn’t do it again unless I was really desperate to save money.
From landing to actually getting into the room took almost 3 hours. About 15 minutes waiting to talk to an agent, then 40 minutes waiting to be sent to the shuttle, another 30 just to move and board the bus, 30 minutes driving, then another 30 minutes in line to check in at the hotel. All of this in big crowds of exhausted, annoyed passengers.
By the time we got to the room, the “free” part didn’t feel free anymore, especially when you’re jetlagged and just want to lie down.
Next time I’ll happily pay €25 for a basic hotel near the metro and be there in under an hour. Lesson learned.
