Free checked bag with Hawaiian… only if you booked it yourself?

This is one of those benefits that sounds simple but has fine print.

From what I’ve seen, perks like free checked bags are usually tied to your membership and how the ticket was booked. If someone else booked it without your Huaka‘i number attached properly, the system might not recognize the benefit.

Sometimes it also depends on fare type or whether your number was added before check-in.

Feels less like “you must book it yourself” and more like “everything has to be linked correctly in the system.”

I’d probably double check that your membership number is on the reservation and maybe ask at the airport too. Sometimes agents can fix it there.
