If you’re flying with United Airlines out of Frankfurt Airport, it might be a good idea to carry a printed boarding pass.
On a recent trip, I had to go through an additional security screening that was unusually intense. The staff asked multiple detailed questions about my job, my company, its headquarters, and my travel history and even repeated some of them. Despite having clear travel records in my passport, the questioning continued, and at one point they took my passport without explanation before putting me through secondary screening.
It may have been due to heightened security, but the interaction felt unnecessarily strict and unfriendly. I travel through Frankfurt several times a year, and this was the first time I experienced something like this. The secondary screening area was also quite busy, with thorough bag checks, pat-downs, and additional testing.
