Heads up for non-EU travelers connecting through Frankfurt Airport. A one hour layover may not be enough time.
There appears to be a two step passport control process. First, you wait at a kiosk, then you may have a long wait, over 40 minutes, to speak with an immigration or customs officer who asks about your travel plans.
According to my experience, Lufthansa staff told passengers who missed their connections that it was their responsibility, even when delays were involved. In some cases, even people with two hour layovers reportedly missed their connecting flights.
We were also told we would need to pay for rebooking after speaking with customer service, which took a long time as well.
If you have a short connection in Frankfurt, it may be risky. If you already booked one, you may want to be cautious about your timing.
