Four Seasons Moganshan will be my new mountain escape from Shanghai

Just secured an early booking for the upcoming Four Seasons Moganshan, opening in 2025 in China's bamboo-covered mountains. As someone who regularly stays at the Four Seasons Shanghai, I'm thrilled to have a luxury mountain retreat just 2.5 hours away. The property will feature private villas with mountain views, which reminds me of their spectacular Kyoto property but with more dramatic elevation. The location in Deqing County's preserved bamboo forests is exactly what we luxury travelers have been missing in Eastern China.

What really caught my attention in the booking details are the wellness-focused amenities, including a planned 3,350 square meter spa complex. Having experienced most of Four Seasons' Asian properties, I can already tell this will rival their Chiang Mai resort for tranquility. They're incorporating local tea culture into the experience, which should pair beautifully with those misty mountain mornings. For those planning ahead, I'd recommend requesting a south-facing villa - based on the topography, these will likely have the most impressive views of the bamboo forests.
