A few days ago I was on a flight from BNA to BUR. The plane was already boarded and we were just waiting at the gate for the door to close when we were told there was a small delay due to paperwork.
About an hour and a half later, the pilot explained that there was an issue caused by the new seating system. Someone had purchased two seats for a single passenger, but only one person checked in. Because of that mismatch, the system would not generate the required weight and balance sheet needed before departure.
They tried working with the software team to fix it, but eventually had to calculate the weight and balance manually instead.
The pilot also said he had never seen this happen in his 25 years flying for the airline.
We eventually departed nearly two hours late.
