Plans have reportedly been revealed for a new ultra-low-cost airline that could operate out of Western Sydney International Airport.
The proposed airline, called Zinc Airlines, is being led by Peter Kelly, a former executive involved with both Ansett and Qantas, including work on Qantas Frequent Flyer and the early development of Jetstar.
According to reports, the airline aims to follow a business model similar to Ryanair, focusing on very low fares and streamlined operations. Initial routes would reportedly connect Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, with possible future expansion to the Gold Coast.
The plan would involve operating an all-Airbus A321neo fleet, with ticket prices intended to undercut current low-cost competitors such as Jetstar.
