Forgot cross body bag on SQ flight, told it was found but now marked lost

Sharing this to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

I was flying Bali to Singapore and then onward to Frankfurt and JFK. As we were landing in Changi, a flight attendant moved my small cross body bag into the overhead bin. I was traveling with a small child and completely forgot to grab it when deplaning.

We arrived in Terminal 3 and had to rush to Terminal 1 for our connecting flight, which was boarding. I realized what happened and ran back, but staff wouldn’t let me reenter the aircraft. They said they would call someone inside to retrieve the bag. I was told they couldn’t find it, even though my AirPods were inside and Find My showed the bag still on the plane. I was urged to leave to catch my connection, so I did.

I filed a lost and found report online before leaving Changi and also reported it again when I arrived at JFK. About 20 minutes before landing in JFK, a flight attendant approached me and told me the bag had been found. I was asked to list the contents and describe it to confirm it was mine, which I did.

That was last week. Since then, I’ve emailed SATS, Changi Airport, and Singapore Airlines multiple times. I then received a response saying their investigation result was “negative,” which doesn’t make sense given what I was told onboard.

My AirPods battery eventually died, but before that they showed as being on an aircraft at Terminal 3 for over 24 hours, suggesting the bag hadn’t been taken by another passenger. Family members were present when the crew told me the bag had been found.

I’m now extremely confused about where the bag actually is and what the next step should be.
