I’m scheduled to fly Vienna to Tehran on Austrian Airlines on Jan 20. With the current situation, I honestly don’t feel safe going anymore. From what I understand, there’s also no internet access, which means I’d have no real way to contact my family once I land. I also don’t speak Farsi, so getting around on my own would be tough.
I called Austrian and they said recent flights were canceled, but flights from Tuesday onward are still showing as normal. Because of that, they won’t offer a refund unless they cancel it themselves.
I’d still like to take the trip in theory, but realistically it feels risky, and I’d basically be stuck without communication. The agent suggested contacting my credit card company, but I’m not sure that’ll go anywhere. I booked through Air Canada since I’m flying out of Toronto.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Did you wait it out, push for a refund, or manage to get something back through your card?
