I was en route to Honolulu last night when our Alaska Airlines flight suddenly turned around midair yep, due to the tsunami warning. That 8.8 quake off Russia had everyone scrambling. Airports shut down across the islands, and flights were either delayed or rerouted. Thankfully, Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines resumed operations later that evening, but the anxiety was real.
Hats off to the crew and airport staff they handled the chaos with calm and clear updates. If you’ve got travel plans to, from, or within Hawaii this week, check your flight status beforehand. Anyone else caught mid-travel during the alert? How did you manage the sudden change?
