I’ve been planning a trip to Hong Kong for almost a year now. Last summer, I was seeing round-trip flights from New York for around $900, which felt pretty reasonable.
I didn’t book at the time because I had other expenses and figured I’d save up and book later. Now that I’ve checked again, those same flights are showing anywhere between $1.8k and $2.5k, which feels like a huge jump.
It’s not even that I can’t afford it, I just can’t justify paying more than double for something that was much cheaper not long ago. It kind of takes the excitement out of the trip.
I was hoping to travel this summer, but now I’m debating whether it’s better to just wait and see if prices drop again, or push the whole plan to next year.
Travel is something I really look forward to, so it’s frustrating seeing prices go this way.
