I booked an international JetBlue flight through a third party agent. Neither JetBlue nor the agent ever notified me about a schedule change. I didn’t get an email or anything. I only noticed because I logged in to pick seats and saw the return flight time was completely different.
The return was moved about 4.5 hours earlier. That doesn’t work at all since I’ll be disembarking from a cruise that morning. That’s the whole reason we booked an afternoon flight in the first place.
To make it more confusing, JetBlue chat told me twice that I was eligible for a free change with no fare difference. The agent then said JetBlue rejected that. Then JetBlue told me I can’t get a free change or refund and they won’t even process a paid change with their usual $50 fee.
The agent’s solution is to change to a later flight for £367, basically the cost of buying a brand new one way ticket, without applying the value of my original return at all.
So now I’m stuck either missing the flight or paying again for a new return. This feels completely unreasonable given the change was never communicated.
Do I have any grounds to dispute this or recover the cost of the return? Or am I just out of luck because I booked through an agent?
