I am about to board a transatlantic flight with a transfer in Amsterdam and I just received a message saying the flight is full and I may need to hand over my carry-on bag at check-in.
The issue is I am traveling with only one small backpack. It contains my laptop, essential medication, electronics, and a power bank.
The bag is small enough to fit under the seat, so I usually keep it with me. I am concerned about having to check it in because it contains items that should not go in the cargo hold.
Is there any way to request an exception in situations like this, or ensure I can keep a personal item with me when flights are full? Has anyone dealt with this before and successfully kept their carry-on?
