I flew Emirates recently and, despite all the concern around the regional tensions and airspace disruptions, the overall experience was extremely smooth.
Before flying, I closely followed how Emirates handled the May 4 operational disruptions and decided against switching airlines at the last minute. In the end, I’m glad I trusted the process.
The first flight departed early and arrived in Dubai ahead of schedule despite busy air traffic. At DXB, staff were actively assisting passengers with tighter connections, which was reassuring given how crowded Terminal 3 was.
My second flight, DXB to JFK, had an adjusted departure schedule due to current routing changes, but operations still felt organized. Pushback was slightly delayed because of congestion from the large number of widebody aircraft moving around at once, though nothing major.
The onboard experience itself was excellent:
Comfortable seat
Good food
Solid entertainment system
Professional crew
Smooth handling despite longer rerouted flight paths
The only frustrating part was another passenger’s family sitting behind and beside me. Constant kicking, grabbing seats, loud conversations, and generally poor etiquette made it difficult to rest during the long haul. The crew tried to manage things, but there’s only so much they can realistically do.
Overall though, Emirates still felt polished and operationally strong even during a difficult period for regional aviation. I’d definitely fly them again.
