First time on Qatar… how strict are they with carry on weight?

First time on Qatar… how strict are they with carry on weight?

Flying Qatar next week for the first time and I keep seeing posts about them being strict with cabin baggage.

Plan is one carry on roller plus a backpack with my laptop and some work stuff. When they weigh bags, do they combine both? Or is the backpack considered a personal item and separate?

Trying to figure out how careful I need to be. Do they usually enforce it hard at check in or the gate?
