I’ll be visiting London next week for work, and it’s also my first time in the city. During the second half of my trip there is a planned Tube strike, so I’m trying to understand how to manage getting around.
I know some services will still run and buses will operate, but I’m not sure how disruptive it will be or what the best backup options are.
My plan:
Staying in Shoreditch
On the 21st: heading to Covent Garden after work, then attending a West End show
On the 22nd: free morning, then traveling to Heathrow Airport around 3pm
I’ve checked route apps and Transport for London updates, but I’m seeing mixed information and some glitches.
What I’m trying to understand:
How bad does London get during a Tube strike in practice?
Is relying on buses realistic for these routes?
Would taxis / Uber be reliable or should I expect surge pricing and delays?
Any backup strategies for getting to Heathrow on time?
I don’t mind paying extra for transport if needed, I just want to avoid getting stuck or missing plans.
