Been stalking award space for months and finally pulled off my first real redemption. Moved about 230k Cap One miles to JAL during the bonus in October and booked JFK to HND and back in business for next October for me and my husband. Took a few tries for the outbound since people kept beating me to it, and the return took a couple days of refreshing, but we got seats.
Paid around 850 in taxes which feels totally fine considering what these flights cost cash. Pretty thrilled with how it all worked out.
Now I’m trying to figure out which Hyatts are the best use of my Chase points.
