Hi everyone,
I (29F, USA) am planning my first trip to Europe for my 30th birthday from 8/4–8/17 with my dad. I know it’s peak summer season, but this trip is also special because it lines up with a total solar eclipse on my birthday (8/12), so I’m building the itinerary around celebrating that as well.
We’re planning a 3-city trip with a mix of sightseeing, food experiences, and plenty of unstructured time to explore:
Paris (8/5–8/9)
Arrival via NYC → Paris
Louvre Museum, Tuileries, Notre Dame area
Eiffel Tower evening walk
One flexible day for food tours or wandering
Barcelona (8/9–8/14)
Train from Paris → Barcelona
Sagrada Família and Gaudí-focused tour
Flexible days for beach, food tours, Montserrat day trip
Birthday day: spa, dining, eclipse viewing plans
Lisbon (8/14–8/17)
Flight to Lisbon
Alfama or Belém exploration
Castle visit, food experiences, walking and music
Overall, I’m aiming for a relaxed pace with one main activity per day and lots of time for food, walking, and spontaneous exploring rather than a packed schedule.
I’d really appreciate feedback on:
Whether this pacing works for 2 weeks
Must-do food or cultural experiences in each city
Any adjustments to the itinerary or day trips worth adding
Thanks in advance!
