I’ve been hiking with my dog on a trail that had a lot of overgrown areas, and I’ve been finding quite a few ticks on her. It makes me worry that there are many more that I am not noticing.
My dog is very fluffy, which probably makes it harder to spot them. After getting back home, I still kept discovering more, and now I am concerned there may be even more in the car or that I missed during the hike.
It was honestly a rough experience, and I think I will avoid that trail in the future and wait until cooler weather. I’ve also been thinking about better ways to handle this, like using a blower or drying her off more thoroughly after hikes, since removing ticks properly is becoming a challenge.
